About Me
My name is Theresa Hayes and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate. As a parent myself, I have first hand experience with the struggles that are inherent in this role. It can often feel like such an isolating experience, especially when faced with societal expectations around what a "good" parent is. My hope is to provide a compassionate, non-judgmental space where you don't have to be the perfect parent. All you have to do is show up and be open to learning. While I mostly work with parents, I also enjoy working with individuals who have a history of trauma or overwhelming life events.
My clients tend to appreciate my self-disclosure around the difficulties I've experienced - and continue to experience - with raising my son and one of my personal goals with every session is ensuring that you leave knowing that you are not alone in your struggles around parenting.
My approach: I primarily operate from the Trauma-Informed Stabilization Model which incorporates mindfulness, parts work (Internal Family Systems or IFS), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and Cognitive-behavioral Therapy. Through this model, I will help you to fundamentally change the way you relate to your traumatic past. I am also currently in training to become a Level 2 Certified Trauma Professional.
I am LGBTQ+ and neurodiversity affirming.
